OPINION: Republicans Who Did What They Said They’d Do Are to Blame for Midterm Loss!

Many people are wondering why the Republicans got so destroyed last night in the Midterms. Well, it’s obvious to me!

It wasn’t that Trump and the Republicans did the opposite of what they promised in their campaigns. It wasn’t because Trump attacked his base. And it definitely wasn’t that Trump started the least popular war in American history and drove up gas prices to compound inflation.

No, the Republicans lost because of there were several Republicans who made the fatal mistake of actually attempting to do what they said they were going to do, and that’s why they lost.

For years, voters had grown accustomed to the familiar arrangement: Republicans campaign on bold promises, win elections, and then spend the next two years explaining why none of those promises can possibly be fulfilled. But this time, a handful of lawmakers broke with tradition and began treating their campaign platforms as some kind of governing agenda.

The consequences were immediate. Voters who had enthusiastically supported these proposals suddenly found themselves confronted with the prospect of those proposals becoming reality. What had seemed like a perfectly reasonable idea when printed on a yard sign became considerably less appealing when attached to an actual piece of legislation.

Republican strategists are now urging their colleagues to return to the party’s winning formula: promise everything, deliver nothing, and blame Democrats for the resulting gridlock. As one consultant explained, “Voters want to know that you’re fighting for them. They don’t necessarily want to see you win.”

The party is reportedly considering a return to the minority, where Republicans can once again promise to repeal, abolish, eliminate, restore, secure, and fix virtually everything without the inconvenience of having to do any of it.
