OTTAWA—In a bold move, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has prohibited guns for people protecting him and will instead will require his security guards to use only NERF weapons.

“There is no reason for anyone in Canada should need guns in their everyday lives,” Trudeau said in a press conference flanked by families of shooting victims. “Therefore, I’m instructing my security guards to get rid of their guns and instead pick up a good NERF weapon.

Trudeau said that he must lead by example in trying to reduce gun violence.

“There are prime ministers and there are leaders. I am a leader and I’m leading the way to get rid of guns,” Trudeau said.

Trudeau also said that there are more benefits.

“Actual weapons are very expensive. But you can get a very nice Nerf Rampage N-Strike Elite Toy Blaster on Amazon for under $40. So, this new policy will be saving money as well as saving lives,” he added.
