BREAKING: Tanker torpedo was signed by Iran
Two international oil tankers were bombed in the Gulf of Oman last week. Now the US says it has proof that Iran was behind the attacks.
And now, in comments bound to ignite tensions between the two countries, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blamed Iran for the “blatant” attacks.
“We have found casings from the torpedoes used to bomb the tankers that clearly have Iran’s signature on them,” Pompeo said. “And it doesn’t look like a forgery or anything. We believe the country of Iran signed the torpedoes and attacked those ships.”
The torpedo shrapnel had the words, “Have a nice day, Signed Iran” on it, clear incontrovertible evidence of the act of war.
Both the Front Altair and the Panama-flagged Kokuka Courageous – which was reportedly bombed – burst into flames and were forced to evacuate in the troubled region this morning.
“It is the assessment of the United States government that the Islamic Republic of Iran is responsible for the attacks that occurred in the Gulf of Oman today,” Pompeo told reporters. “I mean, they signed the friggin’ torpedoes! What else do you need?”
