Talarico Ends Campaign To Star In “One Flu Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”
AUSTIN, Texas — Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico announced Tuesday that he is ending his campaign to accept the lead role in a remake of the classic film, titled “One Flu Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”
Speaking to reporters outside a casting office, Talarico said, “I’m going to Hollywood!” He explained that a 13-day absence from the Senate campaign trail had been spent attending auditions and returning for callbacks. Campaign staff had previously described the period as a “personal break.”
Producers and directors concluded after the thirteenth day that Talarico matched the requirements for the role originally played by Jack Nicholson. “He had the intensity,” one production source said. “It was clear by then.”
Talarico’s Senate campaign office confirmed the withdrawal but offered no further comment on the timing or the film. Studio representatives declined to release a production schedule.
