“Un-Named Source” Gets Prime-Time Show On MSNOW
NEW YORK — MSNOW announced Tuesday that it has hired “Un-Named Source” to host a new prime-time program, following the network’s retraction of a report claiming Kash Patel had secretly traveled to Russia while delivering a speech in Virginia.
The story, which aired earlier in the week, was withdrawn after officials confirmed Patel remained in the United States. In a statement, the network described the error as regrettable. Rachel Maddow’s senior producer, Tue Namuncher, said the new program would address recurring issues with sourcing.
“Having ‘Un-Named Source’ hosting his own show allows us to continue putting out fake news and not have to retract,” Namuncher said. The network plans to expand the format with additional contributors, including “Person Close to the President,” “Anonymous Source,” and “Person Close to the Matter.”
Namuncher added that the arrangement would reduce the need for on-air corrections directed at the network’s audience. MSNOW did not specify a premiere date for the program.
CNN responded later in the day by announcing that Anderson Cooper would be joined by a new co-host identified as “2 Persons Close to the President.” Network representatives declined to provide further details.
