FACT-CHECK: Beto did not contract monkeypox from that gay orgy on the campaign trail
EL PASO, TX—Democratic hopeful for Texas Governor Beto O’Rourke announced via Twitter on Aug. 28, 2022, that he had to postpone upcoming events due to a “bacterial infection” and made it clear that he did not contract monkeypox from that gay orgy on the campaign trail.
“I don’t know why so many people think I attend gay orgies and I have monkeypox. There’s just no evidence of it that I know of,” O’Rourke said.
In a statement published via Twitter on Aug. 28, O’Rourke wrote that he had been diagnosed with a bacterial infection: “After feeling ill on Friday, I went to Methodist Hospital in San Antonio where I was diagnosed with a bacterial infection. And monkeypox is NOT bacterial. It’s a virus. So, clearly it’s not monkeypox.”
The spokesman said that the symptoms appears to be similar to those of monkeypox, but that it was not the same disease.
Many followers were mad that Beto would be so hateful.
“Why aren’t you proud of your monkeypox, Beto?” one fan said.
