AOC celebrates impeachment results: ‘Trump quitted!’
Minutes after US senators voted to acquit President Trump of the charges brought against him last year, many prominent Democrats rushed to condemn the act as “reckless” and a “cruel kick in the pills.”
But not all Democrats were so somber. US Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was one of the few who actually celebrated the move.
“We wanted to impeach him out of office,” AOC said at a press conference, “but I think it’s even better that he quitted on his own.”
“Ever since he became president we’ve wanted him out of office,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “And we’re the boss, so, yeah, I’m glad he finally got the picture.”
The question now for Ocasio-Cortez is when will she be sworn into office?
“That whole part of the process is still a little fuzzy,” AOC said. “But I think I’ll be the next president of the United States of America. First, two Latinas performing at the Super Bowl halftime, and now a Latina president. This is an amazing time to be alive!”
