Justin Trudeau gives touching homage to former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe
OTTAWA—World leaders past and present expressed shock and sadness at the death of former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated Friday while campaigning at a political rally.
Justin Trudeau gave a special homage to the leader, dressing up as a traditional tearful geisha.
News of the shooting of modern Japan’s longest-serving prime minister reverberated around the globe and cast a spotlight on political violence and gun culture in the country and elsewhere.
Trudeau called the attack a “horrible thing but indeed a great excuse for me to dress up like a geisha and do the traditional dance of Japan.”
Trudeau said he looks forward to other assassinations in various ethnic countries so that he can dress up like them too.
“It’s sad, but it’s also really fun!” Trudeau said.
