US—A local single man reportedly expressed concern Wednesday that he has been “really busy lately,” prompting a brief and respectful silence from a local father of five.

The man, 31, made the observation during a conversation with his friend, who has five children ranging in age from toddler to teenager and was at the time attempting to answer a work email while simultaneously settling an argument over a LEGO piece.

“I just feel like I’ve got so much going on right now,” the single man explained. “Between work, trying to keep up with the house, working out, seeing friends, and just having some time for myself, there literally aren’t enough hours in the day.”

The father of five reportedly nodded sympathetically.

“Yeah,” he said.

According to sources familiar with the conversation, the single man then elaborated on his unusually demanding schedule, noting that he had recently started waking up earlier in order to “get more done,” although he acknowledged that his new morning routine had been interrupted twice by sleeping through his alarm.

“I’ve been getting home late, too,” he said. “Sometimes it’s like 7:30.”

The father, whose household reportedly begins its nightly bedtime operation around that same time, glanced briefly toward the kitchen, where three children were eating dinner and two others were allegedly arguing about whose turn it was to use the bathroom.

“That sounds tough,” he said.

The single man agreed.

“It’s just one of those seasons of life where everything seems to pile up,” he said. “I barely have any time to myself anymore.”

At press time, the father of five had reportedly been awake for approximately 14 hours, during which he had prepared five breakfasts, located a missing shoe, packed lunches, driven children to school, worked a full day, answered approximately 47 questions about dinosaurs, purchased groceries, repaired a broken drawer, mediated a dispute involving a stuffed animal, and discovered that someone had left a banana inside a vehicle.

He was scheduled to begin his second shift at 5:30 p.m.

His second shift consisted of parenting.
