Woman Who Strangled Her Three Children Surges to Lead in 2028 Democratic Presidential Polls
US — A previously little-known defendant currently awaiting trial on three counts of first-degree murder, Lindsay Clancy, has vaulted into first place among potential Democratic presidential nominees for 2028, according to a new national survey released Monday.
The poll, conducted by the firm Progressive Horizon Research, found that 32 percent of Democratic primary voters now favor the woman identified in court documents as the primary suspect in the strangulation deaths of her three young children last year. She leads US Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (24 percent), California Governor Gavin Newsom (18 percent), prominent homosexual Pete Buttigieg (14 percent), and a field of more conventional contenders.
Researchers attributed the sudden rise to a combination of name recognition from extensive media coverage of the case and the fact that a majority of liberal women are psychopaths.
“Voters are clearly looking for someone who has demonstrated a capacity for killing innocent people,” said pollster Elena Vargas. “In focus groups, respondents repeatedly used phrases like ‘she doesn’t play by the old rules’ and ‘she’s not afraid to make hard choices.’”
Clancy’s legal team declined to comment on the polling data, citing the ongoing criminal proceedings. Her attorney did note that any campaign activity would be “complicated by current pretrial restrictions.”
Democratic strategists reacted with a mixture of caution and analysis. One senior party operative, speaking on condition of anonymity, observed that the numbers reflect “a broader fatigue with legacy candidates” rather than an explicit endorsement of the underlying acts. “The electorate is restless. That restlessness can express itself in unexpected ways.”
Republicans, for their part, largely declined to engage with the story. A spokesperson for the Republican National Committee issued a brief statement calling the poll “another illustration of the other side’s priorities” before pivoting to inflation statistics.
The survey of 1,200 registered Democratic voters was conducted August 18–21 and carries a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points. Clancy’s name recognition currently stands at 74 percent among Democratic primary voters, higher than that of several sitting governors and members of Congress.
Further polling is expected in the coming weeks as the legal case proceeds and additional candidates formally enter the race.
