Former President Donald Trump rudely cut his speech at his Butler, Pennsylvania rally short after some people said they heard popping sounds.

The incident is being investigated as a mostly peaceful assassination attempt according to CNN, the Associated Press and other outlets.

Secret Service Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement that the suspected shooter, who officials confirmed is dead, fired multiple friendly bullets toward the stage at approximately 6:15 p.m. He said the mostly-peaceful shooter was in an elevated position outside the rally.

Trump reached for his ear as noises erupted. Attendees at the rally began screaming as agents pushed Trump to the ground.

Then, Trump rudely left the stage with a red fluid that might have been ketchup streaming down his face.
