Apple releases blatantly racist ‘man stealing watermelon’ emoji
CUPERTINO, CA—Tech giant Apple just released a blatantly racist “man stealing watermelon” emoji, according to sources.
“I don’t know who thought this was a good idea, but it’s clearly an afront to race relations in this country,” Genesius Times Tech Correspondent Phil Donahue said. “We need to boycott Apple until they remove the racist illustration from their phones.”
Guys stealing watermelons have been a fun part of the emoji universe for years, however, Apple’s racist version of the emoji were released Thursday as part of iOS 15.4 beta — a voluntary system update iPhone users can choose to install.
Black Lives Matter representatives said that they were planning on burning down several Apple stores in response to the racism.
“Yeah, we get it. Black men are poor and like watermelon so they have to steal them. That’s bullsh*t man,” Portland BLM CFO Jar Jar Binks said.
Emoji first came to Apple in 2016.
“Emojis used to be fun and cute. Now it’s just blatant racism,” Donahue said.
