WASHINGTON, DC—The Biden administration has concluded the investigation into whether the Chinese Communist Party had developed and released COVID-19 as a bioweapon because, “China said they didn’t do it.”

The effort, led by then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, also sought to determine whether China’s biological weapons program may have played a role in the pandemic.

Pompeo said in May 2020 that there was “enormous evidence” and a “significant amount of evidence” to support the lab-escape theory, but Biden reported that, “none of that matters because China said they didn’t do it and that’s good enough for me. There’s no reason why they would lie to us,” Biden said.

A representative of the Chinese Communist Party said that, “We would never, ever lie to anyone, especially, the American people. We have conducted a thorough investigation of ourselves and concluded that we did nothing wrong.”
