Israel Alerts Trump That Thomas Massie is Just 2 Weeks from Completing Nuclear Weapon
WASHINGTON — Israeli officials have formally briefed President Donald Trump that Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is approximately 14 days away from assembling a functional nuclear weapon in his garage, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The assessment, delivered during a secure call earlier this week, cites “reliable intelligence” indicating Massie has acquired sufficient fissile material, basic machine tooling, and what one Israeli analyst described as “an unhealthy amount of free time between votes on continuing resolutions.”
“Congressman Massie has a documented history of independent engineering projects and a well-known reluctance to accept external oversight,” an Israeli government spokesman said in a statement. “Our analysts assess that once he finishes the current phase of 3D-printing centrifuge components, the timeline to a crude but credible device becomes uncomfortably short.”
White House officials confirmed the briefing took place but downplayed immediate concerns.
“Tom’s a smart guy. Very principled. Maybe a little too principled,” President Trump told reporters. “We’re monitoring the situation. If he builds it, he builds it. Beautiful technology, by the way. But we prefer these things stay with friendly countries that don’t vote against aid packages.”
Massie, reached at his home in Kentucky, declined to confirm or deny the Israeli timeline.
“I’ve been working on a few personal projects,” he said. “Nothing that violates the Constitution as currently written. Though I do have some thoughts on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty I may share on the House floor next week.”
A senior aide to House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed mild alarm, noting that Massie had recently asked the House Clerk for an extension on his office’s Wi-Fi bandwidth “for research purposes.” The request was denied.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that a Massie device could “fundamentally alter the strategic balance in the greater Ohio River Valley region” and urged immediate U.S. action, including possibly offering the congressman additional foreign aid in exchange for non-proliferation assurances.
At press time, Massie was reportedly seen purchasing large quantities of heavy water and duct tape at a local hardware store.
