Woman Arrested After Posing as Costco Tequila Sampler and Handing Out Free Shots

A local woman was taken into custody over the weekend after she allegedly posed as a Costco product sampler and distributed free tequila shots to shoppers in the liquor aisle.

According to police, the woman arrived at the warehouse club wearing a plain black apron and carrying a tray of small plastic cups. Witnesses said she approached customers near the spirits section, offered samples of what she described as a “new premium tequila,” and poured shots on the spot.

Several shoppers accepted the drinks before an employee noticed that no official sampling station had been authorized that day. Management contacted security, who detained the woman near the exit.

Police said the tequila did not appear to have been stolen from the store. The source of the alcohol remains under investigation.

The woman was charged with criminal trespass and unlawful distribution of alcohol. She was released pending a court date.

Costco officials declined to comment beyond confirming that the company had not scheduled any tequila sampling event.
