On Sunday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said that she was joking around when she claimed the world was going to end in 12 years if we do not take serious action against climate change, a declaration she’s been widely criticized over.

“I was joking when I said that. I’m always joking. Pretty much I was joking whenever I said something in the past that was wrong,” she said laughing.

Everything the congresswoman has said about literally everything has been shown to be mistaken or an outright lie and now she’s saying that it was actually just a joke.

“This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and “fact check” it,” she said, wondering why people would literally fact-check predictions.

Ocasio-Cortez is planning on quitting her “not rich” job in Congress and taking up comedy full-time.
