Feud intensifies as Trump bashes Pelosi with folding chair on House Floor
Many thought that after President Trump ignored Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi‘s handshake and then Pelosi tore up her copy of Trump’s State of the Union speech, that would be the end of it.
They were dead wrong.
Under 24 hours later, after Trump was acquitted by the Senate on both impeachment articles, the feud intensified as Trump took a standard folding chair and bashed Pelosi on the back with it sending her sprawling into the House Gallery. He then yelled, “Impeach this!”
The move drew a wild ovation by partisan Republicans but left Democrats smoldering and figuring out when their next retaliatory move should be.
Vice President Mike Pence just stood back in silent horror.
A source close to the president said the move was not planned. But the progression of events — the snub and the tear and now the folding chair bashing— perfectly encapsulate the growing chill that has defined the Trump-Pelosi relationship.
“I mean he went to his go-to move from his WWF days,” Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) mused as she left the chamber. “Nancy clearly needs to buff up if she wants to hang in this league.”
It is speculated that the next joint-chamber event will feature a proper wrestling mat in the center of the floor so that the distinguished legislators can do battle appropriately.
