Nike stands with Jussie Smollett in new ad campaign

BEAVERTON, OR—Nike is throwing its support behind the embattled actress Jussie Smollett in a new ad campaign with the tag line, “Believe in Something. Even if it didn’t ever happen.”

Smollett is on trial for staging a fake hate crime attack against himself with brothers Abimbola and Olabingo Osundairo.

The shoe marketer said it was spending $6 million on the campaign to solidify its support for complete jackasses.

“We looked at the history of complete degenerates and jackasses that have support of Black Lives Matter, and we said, we need to support this jackass too,” Nike CEO John Joseph Donahoe II said.

The tag line was based on a recent tag line for and ad with Colin Kaepernick that read, “Believe in something. Unless it upsets the Chinese government.”

Since the scandal broke in January 2019, Smollett’s public image has been plagued by nothing but the case and whether he committed a crime by allegedly lying to police.
