20 killed in Chicago shootings over weekend but there was no racist manifesto so no one cares
CHICAGO – At least 72 people were shot, including 12 fatally, over the weekend in Chicago, another eruption of violence in a city that has struggled with murders and shootings, but none of the perpetrators wrote racist anti-immigration manifestos so no one cares.
Similarly, 20 people were murdered in El Paso this weekend but the killer was a big Trump supporter and clearly an anti-immigrant racist, so naturally the story is all over the news.
“It’s almost as if people who claim to care about gun violence only really care when it happens in a pro-gun state by a racist psychopath. They don’t really care if it’s perpetrated by a black man in an anti-gun city and state,” Sam Chucklehead of Chicago said.
Almost.
The violence, which police say is primarily fueled by gangs, disproportionately affects several swaths of low-income black and Latino neighborhoods on the city’s West and South Sides, so clearly, this doesn’t concern you, gentle reader.
