Sen. Schumer recommends these all-natural alternatives to help kids quit vaping
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on Monday slammed the Trump administration’s attempt to crack down on vaping, saying that the proposed rules won’t do enough.
“If we are going to tackle the all-out epidemic of youth vaping and the flavor explosion fueling addition and related health issues, we need to mandate all-natural alternatives to help the kids quit this horrible habit. That’s why I’m recommending we force kids to start smoking these all-natural tobacco cigarettes,” Schumer said.
Last March, Schumer called for a ban on certain flavors like “bubble gum” and “fruit punch” that appeal to young people, in an attempt to stem teen vaping. “We need to make the flavors disgusting. I recommend flavors like burnt buffalo hair or smoldering cow feces.”
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced last week that the state would implement an emergency ban on many e-cigarette flavors and a replacement with natural cigarettes in an effort to stop teenagers from vaping.
The program contradicts a recent federal law that requires people to be 21 years old to buy cigarettes.
“It’s okay if they get them from the government,” Schumer added.
