WASHINGTON, DC—Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made a bold suggestion for Texans experiencing unprecedented cooling caused by global warming: more cow farts.

The ingenious recommendation came after Ocasio-Cortez thought about the problem for five whole minutes yesterday and she posted the suggestion in a video on her Instagram account.

“We all know that cows increase global warming, mainly through their flatulants. So, like, why not just make the cows fart more to warm Texas up? It’s so obvious, I don’t know why no one has thought about it before,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

There are reportedly 13 million bovines in the state of Texas and Ocasio-Cortez estimates that it would take just a couple more farts per cow to get Texas above freezing again.

“You could feed them beans or something because they are the magical fruit and the more you eat them, the more you toot,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “But just don’t buy Goya beans because they’re racist.”
