AOC reports she’s in stable condition after the assassination attempt on Salman Rushdie’s life

WASHINGTON, DC—US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has reported that she is in stable condition today after the assassination attempt on author Salman Rushdie last week.

Ocasio-Cortez said she was “nearly killed” in the knife attack on Rushdie that occurred 500 miles away at an event in New York state.

Rushdie, whose anti-Islam writings led to death threats from Iran in the 1980s, was about to deliver a lecture at the Chautauqua Institution when the incident happened.

Ocasio-Cortez said that she heard about the event the next day and is still recovering from the stabbing.

AOC’s supporters said they were relieved she’s going to live.

“What sort of country do we live in where a sitting US congresswoman can be attacked like that in broad daylight?” one supporter said.

Police say they have no indication for a motive behind the attack but are working with the FBI to blame the attack on Trump.
