BLM activists topple Frederick Douglass statue after learning he voted for Trump

NEW YORK—Black Lives Matter protesters have torn down a statue of 19th century abolitionist Freedrick Douglass after learning that not only was he a Republican but that he voted for Donald Trump twice.

The protest occurred on Douglass’s birthday, February 14th.

“This is Black History Month, and we need to destroy anything that makes us feel unsafe,” New York BLM CFO Bernie Sanders said. “And a Black man that voted for Trump makes me feel unsafe. These shouldn’t exist anywhere on Earth.”

Fredrick Douglass was an African-American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman born in 1818.

“You know I though he was cool because he was Black and he rocked the combed fro, but I saw he was a Republican and now I hate him. We cannot have Black people who are not Black voices as the great Ayanna Presseley said,” Sanders said.

After escaping from slavery in Maryland, Douglass became a national leader of the abolitionist movement in Massachusetts and New York.
