(CNN)—Leading congressional Democrats are calling for the withdrawal of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett after evidence has surfaced that she allegedly tried pineapple on her pizza while attending Rhodes College in the 1990s.

“This is an abomination,” Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) said. “To think that someone would try something so awful is just—I shudder to think.”

Barrett has defended her reputation by denying the incident.

“I believe I was at a party where there was pizza with pineapple on it, but I don’t ever remember trying it or wanting to try it,” Barrett said in an exclusive interview with CNN.

Democrats are not letting this transgression slide however.

“This could possibly be the worst thing a Trump nominee has done, and that’s saying a lot,” Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said. “I believe it’s grounds to impeach Trump again, but I’ll get back to you on that.”

Pineapple has been used on pizza for decades under the guise of “Hawaiian pizza” but they aren’t fooling anyone.

“Is Mrs. Barrett Hawai’ian? I don’t think so. But clearly the pineapple lives loudly within her,” Feinstein added.
