While many of the 4,000 Democratic candidates for president in the 2020 election are clamoring for who can virtue signal the most with other people’s money, President Trump turned the tables on the idea of slave reparations in particular.

“Only Democrats should pay slave reparations because they were the ones who held slaves,” he tweeted overnight.

“It’s a pretty airtight argument,” political analyst Mikey Licher said. “If you’re going to claim that something as ridiculous as skin color should determine if you should get a benefit, then surely the blame should be carried by the same political party that perpetuated the crime.”

The vast majority of slave owners were indeed Democrats and the Republican party arose as an abolitionist party with Abraham Lincoln as the first major Republican candidate and president.

It is estimated that each Democrat alive today owes $203,000 in reparations for the crimes of their ancestors.
