By Securing Greenland, Trump Will Now Get A +5 Troop Bonus Every Turn
WASHINGTON — The White House confirmed Saturday that the United States’ newly secured position in Greenland will deliver a permanent +5 troop bonus at the start of every turn, a development officials described as the most significant force-generation upgrade since the last map expansion.
President Trump, speaking from the Oval Office, said the arrangement “locks in the bonus” and ends years of debate over whether the island’s ice, rare earths, and deep-water ports were worth the political cost. “You hold Greenland, you get the five,” he said. “Every turn. That’s the deal. Nobody else gets it.”
Pentagon planners briefed reporters on the mechanics. Once the territory is fully colored in, the bonus is applied automatically at the beginning of each subsequent turn, before movement or combat resolution. The extra units may be placed in any friendly city or used immediately for garrison, expeditionary, or “forward presence” purposes. Officials stressed the bonus is not a one-time grant and cannot be traded away in later negotiations.
Allies reacted with a mixture of envy and procedural concern. A NATO official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the alliance has not yet updated its turn-order protocols, said several member states are reviewing whether similar territorial bonuses exist elsewhere on the board. “If Greenland is +5, what is Svalbard?” the official asked. “What is the GIUK gap? We need a consistent scoring table.”
Critics on Capitol Hill questioned the timing. Sen. Chuck Schumer said the administration had “skipped several required turns of consultation” and warned that awarding a standing reinforcement bonus to one player could unbalance the mid-game. House Republicans countered that the previous administration had left the bonus “unclaimed on the table for eight years.”
The State Department released a one-page fact sheet titled “Greenland: Strategic Reinforcement Bonus.” It notes that the +5 is in addition to any existing production from mines, barracks, or “natural wonder” effects already present on the island. Legal advisors added that the bonus survives changes of administration so long as the territory remains under U.S. control at the start of the turn.
No official estimate was given for how many turns remain in the current game.
