Buttigieg supports NASA program to put man in Uranus
Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg has endorsed a NASA program to put a man in Uranus. NASA’s latest robotic mission to the gas giant, Uranus 2028, aims to help future astronauts brave that inhospitable landscape.
“I think it’s a really cute idea. The more men on Uranus, the better, as far as I’m concerned,” Buttigieg, who wants to be called “Buttguy” to be clear he’s the gay candidate, said in a press conference.
Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun. It has the third-largest planetary radius and fourth-largest planetary mass in the Solar System. While spacecraft have come close to Uranus, no man has ever come close.
Technically, the astronaut will be in Uranus and not “on Uranus” because it is a completely gaseous planet unlike the terrestrial planets of Earth and Mars.
Many have questioned why NASA wants to skip Jupiter and Saturn and put a man on Uranus, especially due to the violent winds from the gas giant. Buttigieg said because it makes sense because Uranus is, “so hot.”
Eric Swalwell was not available to comment on the violent winds of Uranus.
