Glacier NP replaces ‘Gone by 2020’ signs with ‘scientific predictions are racist’
The signs at Glacier National Park warning that its signature glaciers would be gone by 2020 are being changed to more accurately describe the current scenario in climate science. They will be changed to say, “Scientific predictions are racist.”
The signs in the Montana park were added more than a decade ago to reflect climate change forecasts at the time by the US Geological Survey, park spokeswoman Michelle Hotaire told Genesius Times.
In 2017, the park was told by the agency that the complete melting off of the glaciers was no longer expected to take place so quickly due to changes in the forecast model, Hotaire said. But tight maintenance budgets and the general inability for people to predict climate change based on erroneous assumptions about CO2.
The change coincides with the rescheduling of the global warming apocalypse, which was originally scheduled for 2020 but is being postponed due to uncooperative weather.
The most prominent placards, at St. Mary Visitor Center, were changed last year. Hotaire says that park is still waiting for budget authorization to update signs at two other locations.
“It’s important that people understand that while we may not know exactly when the glaciers are going to be gone, that they are racist if they reject the fact that they will be gone,” Hotaire added.
