BREAKING: Congress narrowly averts being fiscally responsible again
US—Democrats helped Kevin McCarthy pass the controversial debt limit deal he made with President Joe Biden that will suspend the $31 trillion limit for two years in a 314 to 117 vote in the House late Wednesday night and narrowly averted the Congress being fiscally responsible in any way.
“It was a close one,” McCarthy said, smiling for an exclusive interview. “But we worked hard to ensure that we will not be fiscally responsible—at least for the next two years.”
The bill will go to President* Joe Biden’s desk a full day before the government would have had to not spend like drunken sailors on shore leave.
Seventy one conservative Republicans voted no – claiming the package doesn’t cut spending enough, will add $4trillion to the debt and represented a cave to the White House.
“It’s just good to see that, in these partisan times, that we can come together to really make the American people debt slaves to China forever,” McCarthy added.
“Being fiscally responsible is for average American citizens, not Congress,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said.
