Biden decides Kamala Harris is ‘black enough’ to be his running mate
Joe Biden has finally decided Kamala Harris “black enough” to be his running mate for the 2020 presidential election.
Biden called the prominent senator from California whose political career has included many barrier-breaking moments a great pick to secure the black vote.
“Above all else, I wanted someone who was highly qualified, and by that, I mean highly black, to be my running mate,” Biden said.
Questions about whether Harris was black enough arose during the campaign when it was revealed that she imprisoned only black people and was a descendant of slave owners.
The decision comes more than a year after Harris, who was also a 2020 Democratic candidate, clashed with Biden over racial issues during the first primary debate. If elected, she would be the nation’s first black female descendant of slave-owners as vice president.
Picking Harris, who is 55, provides the ticket with some generational diversity. Biden, 77, would be the oldest and most brain-dead president-elect in U.S. history.
